Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Mahkamov and Deputy Minister of Transport of China Li Yang held a meeting to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Ilkhom Makhkamov made proposals for the joint development of the multimodal transport corridor “Kashgar – Irkeshtam – Osh – Andijan” in order to strengthen trade and economic ties between Uzbekistan and China.

In particular, to increase the volume of cargo transportation along this corridor, it was proposed to create favorable conditions for Uzbek carriers, expand the number of bilateral permits between countries and make appropriate changes to the agreement on “International Road Transport”.

Chinese Deputy Minister of Transport Li Yan expressed full support for Makhkamov’s proposals to expand the potential of the corridor and its effective use.

The parties identified further tasks to develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of transport between Uzbekistan and China.
