Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At a recent plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was discussed.
It was noted that the country is conducting systematic work to attract the private sector to provide services related to the export of agricultural products, creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs in this direction.
At the same time, there is a need to create additional conveniences for the export of quarantine products from the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, further simplify the fumigation procedures for such products, and expand the participation of the private sector in carrying out these activities.
The discussed Law expands the powers of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection in the field of plant quarantine.
Specifically, it provides that the procedure for licensing the fumigation of exported quarantine products will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection is now empowered to issue licenses for fumigation activities of quarantine products exported from the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Law also establishes a state duty for licensing the wholesale and retail trade of mineral fertilizers and chemical agents used for plant protection, as well as for the fumigation of exported quarantine products.
The adoption of this Law will increase efficiency by transferring fumigation activities for exported quarantine products to the private sector.
Additionally, the Law creates opportunities for the formation of a competitive environment in the fumigation of exported quarantine products and for providing services according to the demands of the private sector.
The Law was approved by the senators.
