The head of Uzbekistan approves measures to develop the free trade zone “Termez International Trade Center”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution on the development of the Termez International Trade Center free trade zone.

On the territory of the center, entrepreneurs registered in Uzbekistan are allowed to hire citizens of Afghanistan, other countries and stateless persons on the basis of employment contracts without the need to obtain confirmation of the right to carry out labor activities, the resolution says.

Citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan are given the right to lease and, as an exception, purchase ownership of retail stores, buildings and structures intended for the provision of services and production. In this case, the right to the land plot will be registered on a lease basis.

On the territory of the center, it is allowed to use, along with the Uzbek som, US dollars, Russian rubles, euros and yuan as a means of payment in wholesale and retail trade.

In this case, cash foreign currency must be credited to the accounts of legal entities operating in the center through branches of commercial banks.

A medical clinic is being created in the center. It will provide medical services to Afghan citizens. Patients with serious illnesses that cannot be treated in a clinic will be provided with a referral to obtain medical entry visas for treatment in public and private medical institutions in Uzbekistan.

Citizens of Uzbekistan, foreign citizens and stateless persons will be allowed into the territory of the center on the basis of identification documents after being checked at checkpoints. They will be given the opportunity to use all services organized on the territory of the center.

The resolution established the procedure for the entry (exit) of foreign citizens and stateless persons through a special corridor with the passage of border and customs control without issuing an entry visa to Uzbekistan, as well as a stay in the center for no more than 15 days.

For visiting Uzbekistan by foreign citizens and stateless persons purchasing retail stores, buildings and structures intended for the provision of services and production, as well as for those who arrive to work under a contract, study in educational institutions, work in bank branches, trade activities and plans to stay in the country for more than 15 days, an entry visa is required.
