Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  On 18 November, the fourth meeting of the Culture Subcommittee of the Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Moscow. The event was chaired by the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Ozodbek Nazarbekov and the Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova, Dunyo news agency reported.

The meeting was attended by Russia’s Deputy Minister of Culture Andrei Malyshev, Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Culture Avazkhon Tadjikhanov, the Uzbek Ambassador to Russia Botirjon Asadov, and representatives from the ministries of culture of both countries.

Olga Lyubimova noted that regular meetings within the framework of the Subcommittee allow for evaluating the results of joint work and discussing future plans. She reminded the participants that the previous meeting was held on 22 May 2023, in Tashkent.

Ozodbek Nazarbekov, in turn, emphasized the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation in strengthening bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Russia.

Special attention during the meeting was given to joint projects in the field of cinematography and the preservation of cultural heritage. The Director of the Agency for Cinematography of Uzbekistan, Shukhratulla Rizaev, presented initiatives that are being developed with Russian partners.

The co-chairs of the Subcommittee highlighted that performing arts remain one of the key areas of Russo-Uzbek cultural cooperation. One vivid example of this is the grand "Days of Uzbek Culture in Russia," which will open on November 19 with the "Evening of Stars of Uzbekistan" concert at the State Kremlin Palace.

Olga Lyubimova also announced that in 2025, Uzbekistan will host the reciprocal "Days of Russian Culture."

As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a joint protocol, outlining the key areas of cooperation for the upcoming year.
