Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 October, the first stage of transforming Taras Shevchenko Street in Tashkent into a "gastronomic" street was completed, according to the Mirabad District khokimiyat.

As part of the project, the street now features six photo zones, 39 small and 17 large street lamps, 39 security cameras with facial recognition, 20 benches and trash bins, Wi-Fi access points, and a new bus stop.

Additionally, the pedestrian area was expanded, surpassing the width of the roadway, and the asphalt was replaced with granite paving.

The second phase of the project is set to begin soon, according to the district press service. This phase will involve increasing green spaces, creating landscape designs, constructing summer terraces, and installing modern benches.

Construction work may begin on two sections of Taras Shevchenko Street: from the intersection with Said Baraka and Nukus Streets (a stretch of 230 meters) and from the intersection with Shakhrisabz and Fidokor Streets (a stretch of 400 meters).

It was noted that the gastronomic street will operate 24/7, with vehicle access restricted from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The road will be reopened for traffic after the completion of all construction work.
