Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the 14th of January 2019 was the opening ceremony of Uzbek miniature artist Davlat Toshev in Berlin, Germany. The Arts and Culture Development Foundation under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan together with Cultur-cooperation International e.V. and the Museum of Islamic Art at the University of Bamberg are the co-organizers of the exhibition.

D. Toshev’s works are currently exhibited at the Museum of the Bumiller Collection in Berlin. The Museum of the Bumiller Collection hosts one of the most famous collections of historic artifacts, among which are everyday household items, jewelry, paintings of nature, and abstract ornaments from the Middle Ages. The museum contains more than 6000 objects from the 7th and 13th centuries. The objects from are mainly associated with Central and Southeastern Asia.

Visitors to Davlat Toshev’s exhibition this Monday keenly observed the artworks and had an opportunity to converse with the artist. Davlat himself commented, “The ruler and the magnifying glass are my primary assistants since miniature art demands precision and painstaking attention to detail. Even a small artwork takes up to 3 months to paint. The paper on which I work is made of silk. This paper is 200 years old. I use these pages from the ancient manuscripts for special, select artworks. Amazingly, the language of Bakhara miniatures is comprehensible both to the West and to the East.”

The exhibition will be open to the public until the 13th of April 2019. The program of the exhibition will include masterclasses by D. Toshev and joint artistic and scientific gatherings on the art of oriental miniatures.
