The entire Russian government resigned

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at a meeting with Vladimir Putin announced that the entire government is stepping down, RIA Novosti reported.

He noted that in his message to the Federal Assembly, the head of state proposed a number of “fundamental” amendments to the Constitution, significantly changing the balance of executive, legislative and judicial powers.

“In this context, it is obvious that we, as the government <...> must provide the president of our country with the opportunity to make all decisions necessary for this. And in these conditions, I believe that it was right that, in accordance with Article 117 of the Constitution, the government in the current composition resigned.”

Putin in response thanked the members of the government for the work and expressed satisfaction with its results, "although not everything worked out."

“I hope that you and I will see each other soon, I will meet with each of you, I ask you to fulfill your duties in full until the new government is formed,” the president said.

In addition, he announced his intention to introduce the post of deputy chairman of the Security Council and offer it to Medvedev. In this post, according to Putin, the current head of the Cabinet of Ministers can deal with topics of defense and security.

Earlier, in a message to the Federal Assembly, the Russian leader suggested instructing the State Duma not only to coordinate, but also to confirm the candidacy of the Prime Minister, which would seriously change the political system, but at the same time would make interaction between the representative and executive authorities more efficient.
