Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 November 2020, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, together with the Mayor’s Office of the Suginami district of Tokyo, organized a series of events to present the culture, art and tourism potential of Uzbekistan in the Hall Sesion Suginami.
The events were attended by representatives of the general public in Tokyo, including representatives of the official, cultural, educational, business circles and the media (about 300 people in total).
At the opening ceremony, a choir of about 50 students from the Takaido Primary School in Suginami sang the National Anthem of Uzbekistan in Uzbek.
During the event, the Embassy emphasized that the Uzbek-Japanese relations have a long history since the time of the Great Silk Road and the history has preserved many unique facts of trade and human exchange between the Uzbek and Japanese peoples.
It was especially noted that currently dynamically developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan is reaching a new, qualitatively high level, which was facilitated by the results of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Japan in December 2019.
Speaking about the expanding ties of Uzbekistan with Sugin, who became the "Host Town" for Uzbek boxers in preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games, it was proposed to actively develop cooperation in the trade, economic, educational and tourism fields.
Mayor Suginami Ryo Tanaka noted with satisfaction that in 2019 Suginami became the Host Town for Uzbek boxers in preparation for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Therefore, the Japanese side pays special attention to holding various cultural events about Uzbekistan in order to develop friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.
In this regard, during 2020, despite the restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic, a series of cultural events, exhibitions and presentations about Uzbekistan were successfully organized in Suginami, which aroused great interest among the public.
R. Tanaka stressed that now the residents of Suginami will know more about Uzbekistan and support the Uzbek boxers in winning gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics.
As part of the event, separate exhibitions of national gold embroidery and silk clothing, suzane, various items of folk art, ceramics, as well as miniatures, various sweets and dried fruits from Uzbekistan were organized in three large pavilions of the Hall Sesion Suginami.
Visitors to the exhibitions got acquainted with the rich history, culture and art of the Uzbek people, they were presented with photo books about Uzbekistan, brochures with tours to the republic offered by Japanese companies.
A photo exhibition about modern Uzbekistan, presented by the photographer and writer Jean Aquino, aroused particular interest of the visitors. He also gave a lecture on the culture and art of Uzbekistan, and its role in the development of the Great Silk Road.
Within the framework of the event, a concert program with the participation of the famous musician Masha Komazaki with the performance of Uzbek songs on the dutar and the Japanese ensemble "Guliston" with the performance of Uzbek national dances: "Doira", "Mavrigi-Bukhoro", "Tanovar", "Surkhondaryoch", " Kaidasan "and" Khorazmcha-Norin norin ".

The Suginami area is the host city for Uzbek boxing athletes in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Today’s event is held within the framework of this program and the purpose of this festival is to familiarize the residents of Suginami with the history, culture, traditions and art of the Uzbek people.
During the opening ceremony of this festival, the anthem of Uzbekistan was performed by the orchestra of the Suginami school. Also today, a photo exhibition and a presentation by Japanese photographer Jin Aquino, a concert program of the Japanese art group "Gulistan", as well as a musical performance from the performer of Uzbek national songs Masha Komazaki were organized.
I hope that the population of Suginami will actively support the Uzbek athletes during their stay in Japan.
I express the hope that the beginning of cooperation between Suginami and Uzbekistan in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics will make it possible to intensify exchanges in other areas.
