Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the EAEU space, it is planned to launch a pilot project "Traveling without COVID-19" in the form of a mobile application, which will provide data on accredited laboratories and travelers who have passed tests in these laboratories to travel to another country.

The goal is to simplify the movement of citizens in the Eurasian space in a pandemic.

The project "Traveling without COVID-19" was developed by the Digital Initiatives Fund, established by the Eurasian Development Bank, which aims to form tools and practices for digital transformation of the Bank’s member states.

The process of implementing this project will be carried out as follows: 1) citizens take a COVID test in a laboratory in their homeland; 2) receive a digital response on the phone in the form of a QR code; 3) the supervisory authorities at the border will read this QR code in the country of both arrival and departure.

The first such medical laboratories, which will be involved in the project, will be deployed in Belarus, Armenia and Russia.

In the future, the project is planned to be implemented throughout the EAEU, which: a) will help reduce the risks of the spread of COVID-19; b) will allow to establish a reliable control system; c) will facilitate the process of crossing the border.

Kazakhstan, in turn, is actively monitoring the process of launching the new system, despite the fact that the country has already begun developing a national mobile application, which will also contain information about accredited laboratories and data on PCR tests. It is noteworthy that Kyrgyzstan, unlike other potential participants, did not show any interest in the project.

In general, according to experts, the specified EAEU project against the background of the preservation of a difficult epidemiological situation, on the one hand, is aimed at preventing the negative consequences of the pandemic, on the other, at enhancing cooperation in the field of trade, investment and tourism.
