Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Mirzo-Ulugbek District Criminal Court sentenced the administration of school No. 99 in Tashkent in connection with the death of an eighth-grader from electric shock in November last year.
The deputy director for the economic department of the school was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 207 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan (official negligence leading to the death of a person). He was sentenced to four years in prison and prohibited from holding leadership positions for two years.
The school director was also found guilty of a similar article and point, and she was sentenced to four years of restriction of freedom. She also cannot hold management positions or positions associated with financial responsibility for 2 years.
As it was reported a student lost consciousness on the sports ground, but later the Prosecutor General’s Office stated that death was due to electric shock.
On 1 December, a criminal case was opened under articles 186 and 207 of the Criminal Code. On 14 December, the deputy director was taken into custody.
