Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the next plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Convention for the Protection of the Rights of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations (Rome, on 26 October 1961)” was considered.
It was noted that this Convention is aimed at protecting related rights of performers, producers of phonograms and broadcasting organizations in contracting states by providing them with a national regime for the protection of their rights.
Currently, about 100 states are parties to the Convention, including a number of CIS states.
During the discussion, it was especially noted that accession to the Convention contributes to the introduction of advanced international standards for the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as increasing the authority of Uzbekistan.
The law was approved by the Senate.
