The Cabinet of Ministers of Germany accepted for consideration the bill on the creation of the Fund for the Support of Hospitals and Medical Institutions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 2 September 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Federal Republic of Germany accepted for consideration a bill on the creation of a Fund for Support of Hospitals and Medical Institutions. The law is expected to come into force in October of this year.

According to the bill, the Fund is expected to begin its activities from January 2021 under the Federal Office of Social Security with financial support from the government, federal states and departments. German clinics can receive an investment package of 4.3 billion euros:

3 billion euros of them will be allocated by the government, 1.3 billion euros must be invested by the federal states. The federal states can apply for funding until the end of 2021.

It is noted that funding will be directed to improving emergency medical services and the development of digital medicine. In particular, it is planned to improve the electronic documentation of care and treatment services, digital drug management and modernize telemedicine networks throughout Germany. The fund will also finance the necessary staffing activities and transnational projects.

It is worth noting that the federal government, in cooperation with the Institute for Health Quality and Efficiency, the German Center for the Study of Oncology and the Institute. R. Koha has already launched a national Internet portal on health issues. The www.gesund.bund.de platform is designed to provide citizens with scientifically validated information on health, care and prevention.

For the first time in decades, the federal government is using its own budget to fund hospitals, according to the Federal Minister of Health J. Spahn, and this decision was pushed by the situation during the pandemic. According to the minister, the investment funds of the federal states could not cover all the needs. According to J. Spahn, "the pandemic has once again shown how important a well-functioning health care system is, and German medical institutions today need to increase investments."

In general, experts note that Germany pays great attention to strengthening the health system, based on the lessons learned from the consequences of the pandemic. The German authorities are focusing their efforts on improving emergency medical care and developing digital medicine.
