Thailand envoy hands over credentials
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow Mr. Chalermpol Thanchitt held negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 14 October 2011.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said that Thai envoy handed over credentials, addressed to the President of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of developing the Uzbek-Thai relations, including holding regular political consultations, first round of which was held in Bangkok in December 2010.

It was said that there are necessary preconditions for effective use of potential in bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation. In eight months of 2011, bilateral trade turnover reached US$21 million, which is significantly high compared previous year.

Both sides are interested in regular work of new mechanism – Uzbek-Thai intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation.

Developed tourism infrastructure of Uzbekistan and Thailand is considered as important factor of deepening contacts in organization of mutual visits of the citizens. The Uzbek side is interested in attracting reach experience of Thai partners in organization of rehabilitation and ecology tourism, as well as construction of private hotels.

Sporting structures play important role in strengthening relations between two nations. On 20-27 September 2011, Uzbekistan hosted Muaythai World Championship.

The sides exchanged opinion on other issues of the Uzbek-Thai relations, as well as regional and international issues.
