Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Starting from 1 January 2025, telecommunication operators (providers) in Uzbekistan will be able to gain direct access to international internet channels.
This is stipulated by the presidential decree "On additional measures to further accelerate market reforms and bring the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan into compliance with the agreements of the World Trade Organization."
According to the decree, as an experiment, providers will be able to directly connect to international internet networks for their commercial needs. However, they must fully comply with the requirements for operational search activities as well as information and cybersecurity systems.
President of Uzbekistan has tasked the Ministry of Digital Technologies to submit for government approval, by 1 October 2024, the procedure for the direct connection of providers to international internet channels.
The document will also include provisions for the phased provision of services to other operators for the creation of international internet channels, with full assurance of information and national security.
