In line with existing legislation of Uzbekistan, it is banned to make payments in hard currency in retail trade and service sector.
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On further regulation of mechanism of payments in retail trade and service sector”. The document was adopted to ensure full implementation of legislation in hard currency regulation and further ordering mechanism of payment in retail trade and service sector.
According to the document, new department will carry out monitoring and control over adherence of legislation on conducting payments in territory of Uzbekistan by business entities and individuals in retail trade and service sector.
The department will also reveal, prevent and suppress hard currency crimes and violations at payments in retail trade and service sector, including through control payments. The violation cases will be handed over to law enforcement bodies, the document said.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov entrusted new department to create and run single computer base on revealed violations and crimes on making payments with hard currency in retail trade and service sector in Uzbekistan.
The department will also conduct explanation and preventive work among population and business entities to avoid hard currency turnover.
President entrusted Department on fighting tax, currency crimes and legalization of criminal income under Prosecutor-General’s Office of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Interior Affairs, corresponding ministries and departments to assist tax services in implementation of requirements of law on control over illegal hard currency turnover in retail trade and service sector.
