Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – World Boxing Championships will be held from 1 to 14 May 2023 in Tashkent. This was announced in Jordan at the press conference with participation of the President of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Umar Kremlev.

It is worth noting that Uzbekistan will host the World Boxing Championships for the first time.

At the meeting, the IBA president expressed confidence that Uzbekistan would be able to hold a responsible championship at a high level. He also noted that the 2023 World Cup will have a record prize fund. At the tournament, which will be hosted by Tashkent, the total amount will be US$5.2 million. The gold medal winners will receive US$200,000, the finalists US$100,000, and the bronze medalists US$50,000.

“I believe that the World Boxing Championship among men will be held at a high level and will be one of the best in history. I was in Uzbekistan and saw how competitions are organized there. Professionalism and love for boxing in Uzbekistan will become a role model for many countries. I look forward to meeting the new champions in Tashkent," said Umar Kremlev.

In turn, the Deputy Chairman of the NOC, First Deputy Chairman of the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan Saken Polatov expressed his joy that Tashkent is ready to become the "Capital of World Boxing".

“This is not accidental, the reason for this is the rich boxing traditions that have been preserved in Uzbekistan for many years. On behalf of the Uzbek boxing family, I can say that our country will do everything to ensure that the upcoming world championship is held at a high level,” said Saken Polatov.

At the upcoming world championship, the first licenses for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be played.
