Tashkent to host round table “Film Industry of Uzbekistan in the Context of Innovative Development”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the project “Strengthening cultural and creative industries in Laos, Uzbekistan and Rwanda,” the UNESCO Office in Tashkent in partnership with the National Agency “Uzbekkino” organizes round table “Film Industry of Uzbekistan in the Context of Innovative Development” on 24 January 2018 in Tashkent.

The goal of the round table is to discuss issues of film industry development in Uzbekistan, as well as present and discuss the results of the research of state and perspectives of the film industry development in Uzbekistan being conducted by the UNESCO Office in Tashkent under the framework of this project.

The round table will be attended by the representatives of film industry of Uzbekistan – specialists of “Uzbekkino,” “Uzbektelefilm,” representatives of private film studios and cinemas, independent directors and faculties of universities which educate and prepare various specialists in the field of film industry. Also, an international expert on film industry Professor Birgit Beumers was invited to participate in the round table. It is expected that at the end of the roundtable recommendations for further development of the film industry in the country will be elabirated.

Within the framework of the project, the UNESCO Office in Tashkent also organizes a two-day training course on development of film projects for young filmmakers, producers and screenwriters. The training will be held on 25-26 January 2018 in Tashkent. The purpose of the training is to strengthen national capacity in the field of film industry in Uzbekistan. The training will be conducted by an international expert Professor Birgit Beumers.

The project "Strengthening cultural and creative industries in Laos, Uzbekistan and Rwanda" was launched in 2017 and aims to encourage development and promotion of the film industry in Uzbekistan. The project also aims at strengthening national capacity to protect and support the diversity of cultural expression through supporting the development of the film industry in Uzbekistan; promoting respect for the diversity of cultural expression and enhancing its relevance at the national and international levels; stimulating international cooperation and establishing business contacts in the field of film industry in Uzbekistan.
