The paper said that the facility will work in test mode for about two weeks and afterwards it will work in full capacity to supply electricity to consumers.
The report said that launch of the facility will help the plant to increase electricity production almost twice up to 400 million KWH.
Earlier, the plant was planning to launch the facility in July 2013, but the project was implement with high tempo and the facility will be launched earlier.
The capacity of the gas turbine facility is 27 megawatt, which will allow to increase electricity by 228 million KWH up to 400 million KWH. This will be enough to ensure electricity supply up to 6,500 enterprises.
The facility will also help to cut gas consumption by 39 million cubic meters, which will be enough for production of 975,000 tonnes of high quality metals. It will also decrease CO2 emission by 65 tonnes a year.
Uzbekenergo and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan developed the project and it is implemented within the Clean Development Mechanism.
The project cost is US$62.9 million, of which US$24.9 million were resources of Uzbekenergo and US$38 million – NEDO grant. Some US$26.2 million were used to purchase of turbine, generators, boilers, etc.
