Tashkent region to acquire 1,000 new buses

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tashkent region plans to acquire 1,000 new buses. This issue was discussed at a meeting chaired by khokim Zoyir Mirzaev, as reported by the regional administration’s press service.

Zoyir Mirzaev instructed the procurement of transport to create new bus routes connecting the administrative center of the region — the city of Nurafshan — with all cities and districts in the area.

Nurafshan will serve as a logistics hub for these new routes. To optimize their planning, the regional transport department will conduct a survey among the population.

The meeting also addressed the directives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, given during his visit to Tashkent Region. One of the key issues discussed was poverty reduction and the management of labor migrants, identified as priority tasks for local authorities.

President Mirziyoyev noted, “If they earn US$1,500−US$2,000 abroad, that’s good, and we will support them. But if they earn less, it’s better to create conditions for them here.”

Zoyir Mirzaev emphasized the need to transition from formal reports to real work. He instructed the khokims of cities and districts to connect daily with at least 20 migrants through online platforms.

Additionally, a headquarters will be established in the region for the repatriation of female migrants, headed by deputy khokim for women’s and girls’ issues, Zuhra Mirgazieva. This headquarters will study the working conditions and legal issues facing Uzbek women abroad and will take measures for their return and employment in Uzbekistan, should they wish to do so.
