Tashkent hosts seminar on role of media in covering healthcare reforms
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Public Fund for Support and Development of Independent Print Mass Media and Information Agency of Uzbekistan organized a seminar titled “Role and tasks of mass media in explaining reforms in the area of protection of mother and children health to population” on 12 March 2013.

Journalists from central and regional print media of Uzbekistan participated at the event. MPs of Lgisltive Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, experts of Ministry of healthcare, Uzbekistan Women’s Committee, scientists and others attended the event.

The event is aimed at regular coverage of reforms in the healthcare system, directed at strengthening health of population, mothers and children and tasks of the state programme “The Year of well-being and prosperity” in mass media.

Uzbekistan pays great attention to strengthening population and social protection of family, maternity and childhood, role of women in society, reforming healthcare system, etc.

Uzbekistan also implements projects with international organizations. One of such projects is “Strengthening potential of mass media in promoting issues of strengthening family institute”, which is implemented by Public Fund for Support and Development of Independent Print Mass Media and Information Agency of Uzbekistan and UNICEF.

The project, which is implemented in 2012-2013, envisages organization of seminars for journalists from all regions of Uzbekistan to cover reforms in healthcare system, protection of health of mothers and children, etc.

So far, the project organized two roundtables and four centralized training. Overall some 400 journalists participated at the event.

The participants underlined that the seminar served for improving skills and knowledge of journalists, as well as coverage of reforms in local mass media.
