Tashkent hosts roundtable on development of social partnership
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted a roundtable dedicated to issues of social partnership and development of civil society institutes, as well as discussion of draft law “On social partnership”.

The event was organized by the Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan (Ombudsperson) in cooperation with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, UzA reported.

In the Concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in Uzbekistan, President Islam Karimov said that it is necessary to adopt law “On social partnership” to further developing civil society institutes, strengthening their role in ensuring transparency and efficiency in ongoing reforms.

Social partnership is special direction of public relations, ensuring balance in implementation of social-economic interests of all layers of population. Important task of social partnership is to coordinate and protect interest of various social layers, assisting to solve economic and political tasks, forming strong civil society.

Ambassador Istvan Venczel, OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan, said: “Uzbekistan pays special attention to strengthening partnership between state bodies and private sector and it accrued rich experience in the area. Close cooperation of the government, NGOs and business structures is important for solving social-economic issues, adhering to human rights.”

Participants underlined that Uzbekistan create firm legal base for partnership relations as over 30 legislative documents, regulating the sphere, was adopted. They help to speed up democratization process, formation of civil society and integration to international community.

Akmal Saidov, director of National Human Rights Center, said that Uzbekistan formed national model of social partnership. He said that in the conditions of Uzbekistan, the government is initiator of partnership relations, create their legal base and render assistance to their development.

During the roundtable, participants discussed partnership in realization of social-economic programmes, labour relations, education and raising legal knowledge of population, cooperation of Ombudsperson with government bodies and NGOs.
