Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 11 February, the state specialized general school No. 59 of the Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent hosted a ceremony honoring the teachers from China, Ms. Dong Laoshi and Vera KaiSu, who for many years worked in education in Uzbekistan.
Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan, and Jiang Yan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan, attended the event.
Since 1978, Ms. Dong Laoshi has been working as a Chinese language teacher in schools and at the Uzbek State University of World Languages. Now he works in academic lyceums at the Pedagogical University, pre-school institution No. 506 and at the Confucius Institute. In 2014 she received the Dustlik Order.
In turn, Vera KaiSu worked for 55 years (from 1957 to 2012) as a teacher of Chinese. She was honored with the Hulk Talimi Alochisi sign.
For many years, Dong Laoshi and Vera KaiSu educated and taught several generations of young people, thereby contributing to the strengthening of humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and China.
During the ceremony, the Minister of National Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov thanked Dong Laoshi and Vera KaiSu for their contribution to development of education in our country. He noted that the language unites peoples and makes it possible to strengthen ties between countries. The minister urged teachers to vaccinate children, including learning foreign languages.
Pupils of secondary school №59 presented their music and dance performances at the event. At the end of the ceremony, Dong Laoshi and Vera KaiSu were given memorable gifts.
During the visit to the school, the Minister of National Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Uzbekistan Jiang Yan got acquainted with the created conditions for students and teachers by visiting the smart classroom and language laboratory.
Sherzod Shermatov and Jiang Yan exchanged views on further development of teaching Chinese in the schools of Uzbekistan, including through an increase in the number of schools teaching Chinese.
It should be noted that today the Chinese language is taught only in one school of Uzbekistan. The number of students learning Chinese is 1,430 children.
