Increase of temperature by 2-3°C, according to forecast, will speed up melting process of glaciers, which will result in decrease of river flow. He said this will decrease precipitations and with increase of water consumption can create tension in the region in mid- and long-term perspectives.
He proposed to conduct complex expertise of old-dated water use in the region and effect of water reservoirs in lower reaches to ecologic situation.
Rahmon said Tajikistan support new climate agreement, which envisages limits and decrease of hydrocarbon fuel consumption, wider use of renewable energy, rehabilitation of forests and improved use of land.
Tajik President underlined that financing is key in joint efforts in tackling climate change. He said without proper financing, the efforts will be fruitless. He called to increase financing volume and technical assistance to developing states.
