Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 November 2024, Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, participated in the opening ceremony of Swiss Days 2024, organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Tashkent.
This year’s theme, “Switzerland: Quality. Innovation. Reliability,” highlights the event’s aim to strengthen business ties between Uzbekistan and Switzerland while promoting culture, arts, and education. The event, now in its third edition, features participation from over 30 Swiss companies.
In his speech, Laziz Kudratov emphasized the steady growth of trade and economic cooperation between the two nations. Over the past five years, trade turnover has doubled, reaching US$341 million in 2023. Uzbekistan currently hosts over 100 companies with Swiss capital, and Switzerland’s total investments in the country amounted to $1.4 billion in 2023. Collaborative investment projects span various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, construction, textiles, agriculture, and tourism.
The minister highlighted promising avenues for collaboration, such as diversifying trade, enhancing industrial cooperation in green technologies, renewable energy, sustainable resource management, innovative healthcare and education solutions, modern financial technologies, and strengthening ties in the pharmaceutical sector.
Laziz Kudratov assured Swiss companies of the Ministry’s comprehensive support for their operations in Uzbekistan.
Swiss Days is an annual event organized by the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan to foster economic and cultural ties. The program includes thematic exhibitions, interactive sessions, business meetings, and workshops tailored for both government and business representatives.
