Technologies 07/08/2008 Super iMax launches pilot WiMax network in 4 Uzbek regions

The report said the company launched WiMax of 802.16d standard in testing mode in Tashkent, Andijan, Ferghana and Samarkand region.

Currently, Super iMax renders services only to corporate clients on Virtual Private Network regime. The company plans to launch commercial exploitation of the network from 1 September in above-mentioned regions under EVO trademark.

It is planned to cover all regions of Uzbekistan with WiMax network within three years.

WiMax network was built based on BreezeMAX 3500о equipment of Israel’s Alvarion. South Korean Posdata provided solutions for mobile services of the network.

Last October, Korea Telecom Corporation and Japan’s Sumitomo Corp acquired Super-iMAX to launch wireless internet and broadband services with 2.3GHz spectrum in the Uzbekistan region.
