Style.Uz Art Week 2012 in numbers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 100,000 people attended 180 multifarious events held from September 30 to October 9 as part of four far-reaching projects overseen by Fund Forum and partners: Style.Uz Art Week, the Second Tashkent International Cinema Forum ‘Golden Guepard’, the Third International Festival ‘Theatre.UZ/2012’ and the Sixth Tashkent International Photo Biennale, Fund Forum said.

Fifty participant countries, over 700 international guests, around 350 media representatives, over 300 volunteers and translators, over 60,000 visitors and participants of Style.Uz, 15,000 for Theatre.Uz, 15,000 for ‘Golden Guepard’ Cinema Forum and 10,000 for the Photo Biennale.

More specifically:

70 events held as part of the Second Tashkent International Cinema Forum ‘Golden Guepard’ brought together over 1,500 cinema professionals and young people;

37 events held as part of the Sixth Tashkent International Photo Biennale brought together over 1,500 established and emerging photographers;

34 projects held as part of the Third International Festival 'Theatre.UZ/2012' brought together over 1,200 theater actors, teams and directors;

27 workshops led by artists, actors, directors, cameramen, cinema specialists, theater directors, playwrights, stage designers, photographers, fashion experts and stylists, were attended by roughly 5,000 young people;

38 photo and art exhibitions, including art shows within the Sixth Tashkent International Photo Biennale, featured works by over 200 photographers, artists and craftsmen;

12 fashion shows – 9 by international designers and fashion houses, the Underground Youth Fashion Show, the National Dress Festival and the General Défilé by Dom Stilya. A total of 68 collections have been presented by designers from Uzbekistan, Japan, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States;

8 conferences and briefings: International conference ‘Crafts and Creativity’ in partnership with the British Council; Uzbek-Japanese conference ‘Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Silk Road Countries’; Conference ‘The Role, Place and Contributions of Uzbekistan`s Architectural Epigraphy to the Formation and Development of National Spirituality and Oriental Civilization’; conference on issues in contemporary theater; briefing with the President of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Jean Roy; international conference ‘Contemporary Cinema: Space, Time Soul’; conference ‘Photo Art: the Past, the Present, the Future’ and press conference with the organizers, guests and participants of Style.Uz Art Week 2012;

3 concerts: by American trumpeter Chris Botti (September 26), British pop diva Sophie Ellis-Bextor (October 4) and Greek music legend Demis Roussos (October 9). All the concerts had charitable character, with up to 50% of the tickets being distributed free of charge among talented musicians, students, young fashion designers and art professionals;

2 charity auctions: the charity gala dinner organized by the National Breast Cancer Association of Uzbekistan (NBCAU) included a fundraising auction in support of women with breast cancer in Uzbekistan; and an auction organized by Uzbekistan’s MEROS Association in conjunction with Christie’s (UK) raised funds which be channeled into research and archeological excavations overseen by MEROS Association in Uzbekistan. The auctions were led by British auctioneer Edward Rising.
