Stefan Priesner handed over a letter of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on his appointment as head of the UN Country Office in Uzbekistan, the Uzbek ministry said.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current state and perspectives of development of bilateral relations.

Currently, the sides are cooperating effectively in various areas. Uzbekistan and the UN are cooperating in preventing proliferation of nuclear weapons, overcoming social-economic and ecologic problems in the region, fighting with international terrorism, drug trafficking and other areas.

The sides are also implementing the UN programme on assisting to development of Uzbekistan for 2010-2015.

The sides also exchanged opinion on other international and regional issues.
