Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan detained the deputy khokim of Saykhunabad district of Syrdarya region for agriculture and water management while receiving a bribe.
According to the State Security Service, the deputy promised to help an entrepreneur who planned to engage in agricultural production in obtaining 6 hectares of land in the Sardobinsky district. He asked for US$20,000 for his services.
He also had to help with formalizing the lease of 50 acres of land in Saykhunabad for the construction of light structures based on an agreement with the regional forestry department. For this he demanded US$5,000.
The deputy khokim was detained during an operational operation at the time of receiving the required amount of US$25,000.
