State Labor Inspectorate granted powers for remote audits

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 1 March 2025, officials from the State Labor Inspectorate and its regional offices will be empowered to conduct remote audits, according to the presidential decree “On Measures to Improve State Policy in Reducing Poverty and Enhancing Employment Efficiency.”

These audits will focus on compliance with labor legislation, workplace safety, mandatory civil liability insurance for employers, and employment issues.

Fines will be imposed for violations of labor rights and workplace safety regulations, as well as for obstructing labor inspectors’ activities.

Additionally, the inspectorate will monitor the workforce numbers at state-funded construction sites, ensuring they align with data from the "Transparent Construction" system.

Law enforcement agencies will be restricted from involving labor inspectors in audits for more than 10 working days per month.

From November 1, 2024, the Labor Inspectorate will notify the business ombudsman before initiating inspections.

The Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction is tasked with establishing a platform on the National Job Vacancy Database by 1 April 2025, providing information on job openings, in-demand professions, wages, and working conditions.

By 1 January 2025, an enhanced labor rights protection system will be implemented, allowing labor disputes to be resolved via video conferencing mediation. Additionally, from 1 March 2025, an online labor rights compliance rating system will be introduced.

Safety and hygiene standards are planned to be developed by 2026.
