Standard and Poor’s affirms credit ratings of Halk Bank
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- International rating agency Standard and Poor’s affirmed international credit ratings of state commercial Halk Bank (People’s Bank) at the level B/Stable/B.

The bank said that Standard and Poor’s studied activity of the banks of Uzbekistan, targeted policy of the government on strengthening financial system, as well as the activity of the banks, its strategic directions and results for 2010, affirmed the rating of the Halk Bank.

Halk Bank is one of the largest commercial banks of Uzbekistan, offering services to population, credit establishments, enterprises and organizations in the country.

The Bank has 14 territorial, 185 district branches and 270 mini banks, as well as 3,500 cash offices. The bank employs over 12,000 people.

Assets of Halk Bank grew by 1543 billion soums in the first quarter and reached 1.398 trillion soums as of 1 April 2011.

Loan portfolio of the bank reached 651.1 billion soums and grew by 96.1 billion soums in the first quarter of 2011.

Aggregate volume of attracted deposits made up 983.7 billion soums, of which 644.2 billion soums were deposits of population (grew by 45 billion soums in Jan-Mar 2011).
