Staff of Ministry of Innovation get acquainted with the activities of the International Innovation Center of Aral

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26-28 March, senior officials of the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

During the visit, a meeting was held at the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan with the participation of the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republics of Karakalpakstan on the issues of ecology and development of the Aral Sea region Jusipbek Kazbekov and representatives of responsible organizations of the region, and issues of effective organization of the planned events were discussed.

The staff of the ministry, led by Deputy Minister Azimjon Nazarov, familiarized themselves with the activities of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region, leaving for its territory, where work continues on the construction of the building of the Center.

The specialists of the ministry analyzed the construction work, gave relevant instructions and recommendations for eliminating existing deficiencies.

The staff of the Ministry of Innovation also visited the Muynak district, where the activities of the Muynak experimental site of the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region were studied. To date, more than 9 of the 20.3 hectares allocated to the center have been developed, 3 of which are occupied by crops.

The activities of the Muynak site are funded by the Innovative Development Support Fund and the innovative ideas of the Ministry of Innovative Development. At this site, work is underway to create a gene pool of desert plants.

In the Muynak plot, more than 4 thousand seedlings of sumach, ash, elm, and Chinese willow, norway, willow, silver poplar, have been planted. Also, work has begun on land development. The ministry employees planted over 50 sumac seedlings in the Muynak site.

During the trip, a round table was also held with the participation of authorized persons of the Khokimiyat and members of the working group, where the participants got acquainted with the work carried out on construction projects, transport infrastructure, and improvement of energy supply.

The Nukus branch of the Tashkent State Agrarian University also hosted a round table in the framework of the “Aral Sea Region - a zone of environmental innovation and technology” with the participation of representatives of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, several ministries and departments of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as professors and scientists of the Nukus branch of the Agrarian University.

Following the meeting, the authorized persons agreed to consider the creation of the Interdepartmental Coordinating Council at the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea Region and to add amendments to the Concept of the “Aral Sea Region - a zone of environmental innovation and technology”.

At the same time, the Ministry of Innovation Development sent 6 young scientists from the International Innovation Center of the Aral Sea region to a research internship at the Dubai office of the International Center ICBA, currently they are getting practical skills in the United Arab Emirates.
