South Korean doctors visit Tashkent city oncology clinics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation doctor of Hwasun Hospital of Chonnam National University (South Korea) led by director-general of clinics Doctor Hun Kuk and head of mammalogy department of the clinics Youn Chon Han visited Tashkent city oncology clinics on 24 May and met with doctors and students of medical universities.

Mr Youn also carried out medical inspection of 10 patients of mammalogy department of Tashkent clinics, including Matina Kurmanbaeva, who was operated by Korean specialist in February 2012 at Hwansun clinics. The operation was conducted in cooperation with Fund Forum and “In the Name of Life” National Breast Cancer Association, as well as partners.

Head doctor of Tashkent clinics Mirza Gafur-Ahunov welcomed the guests and briefed about oncology service in Uzbekistan, situation in Uzbekistan on oncology diseases (over 100,000 people) and breast cancer. It was said that 2,325 people with breast cancer were registered in Uzbekistan in 2011, which makes up 11% of total number of people registered with cancer diseases (19,600). Overall, there are over 15,000 people with breast cancer.

Hun Kuk said that the visit helped to familiarize with the activity of Tashkent clinics and work of doctors. He said that Hwansun clinics is one of the best health organizations in treatment of cancer and the Korean side is ready to help to train Uzbek specialists.

During the meeting at the Tashkent clinics with local specialists, he said that it is planned to hold international conference on breast cancer in October 2013 and invited the Uzbek doctors.
