Some 7,000 WWII veterans live in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, some 7,000 veterans of World War II (WWII) live in Uzbekistan along with 117,000 veterans, who worked at the rear, chairperson of the Central Council of Nuroniy Foundation Erkin Bokiboyev said in interview to UzA.

He said that Nuroniy Foundation pays great attention to social protection, material and moral support of these veterans. The foundation implements measures on social and medial support of veterans.

Within the presidential resolution “On additional measures on further social protection of single elder people, pensioners and people with disabilities for 2011-2014 from 30 May 2011, the foundation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare rendered social aid to 30,000 elder people, pensioners and people with disabilities. Elder people, World War II veterans and disabled people were provided with free medicaments.

He noted that over 484,000 elder people, veterans and people with disabilities underwent medical examinations in 2011. About 8,000 pensioners received tickets to sanatoriums.

Erkin Bokiboyev saud that Dori Darmon JSC provided free medicaments for 102 million soums to veterans of World War II and veterans, who worked at the rear.
