Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Currently, over 4 million families in Uzbekistan have their own private farms, which are located at 495,000 hectares of land.

According to Mahalla Foundation, they have over 7 million cattle, of which about 4 million are cows.

Today, major part of fruit and vegetables, as well as melons and gourds are produced in farmsteads. Mahallas also produce cocoons, meat, fish, eggs and honey.

Mahalla Foundation said that it is conducting measures to improve efficient use of private farms in cooperation with self-governance bodies.

In particular, self-governance bodies received seeds of vegetables, potato, melons and gourds, mineral and fertilizers, etc. In 2012, seeds of vegetables and melons and gourds for 1 billion soums were supplied to them.
