Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek says his team will take a positive approach to tonight’s match.
But he has warned the Socceroos that Uzbekistan is in-form and will be tough to beat.
"They bring other players on the field all the time and they are all doing well, they are back in the race, and that makes them a very dangerous opponent," he said.
"We never speak about what will happen if we lose, we never speak about having a draw, we are always talking about how we can win the game."
Australia is in a strong position with three wins from four games and will move to the top of its group with another victory tonight in Sydney’s Olympic Stadium.
Socceroos midfielder Tim Cahill could be used ’off the bench’ in tonight’s World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan in Sydney.
Cahill has been cleared to play after overcoming a calf injury he picked up during a match for his English club, Everton, two weeks ago.
But Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek says there are still doubts about whether he can play the whole match.
"Of course we’d like to have Timmy on the field because he is one of our key players, but from the start we knew he could be 100 per cent fit or maybe not," he said.
"So again he’s one of those players you like to have on the field but let’s wait for the game."
Mark Bresciano remains under an injury cloud, but Verbeek has said that Bresciano is training well.
"They’re all ready, it’s just about [whether] I bring them all with the risk that they cannot make 90 minutes," he said.
Midfielder Carl Valeri and defender Michael Beauchamp also have fitness concerns going into the match.
