Single school uniform to be implemented through retail outlets

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 January 2019, the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan held a video-selector meeting to discuss issues on implementation of the Cabinet of Ministers resolution “On measures to ensure modern single school uniforms for students of public educational institutions” dated 15 August 2018. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Public Education.

The heads of the departments and divisions of the Ministry, the Ministry of Public Education of Karakalpakstan, the departments of public education in the city of Tashkent and the regions, the regional departments of public education, and also general education schools participated in the meeting.

Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan, Dilshod Kenjaev, spoke in detail about the main tasks of the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers and the current state of affairs regarding the implementation of the document in the regions of the country.

It was noted that a single school uniform, in accordance with a government resolution, is introduced from 2019–2020 academic year and for the timely production of uniforms, educational institutions, district and regional departments of public education should provide information on the number of students.

The Deputy Minister of Public Education noted that despite the fact that school principals should not interfere in the process of selling of school uniforms, some principles gave “recommendations” about purchasing products of certain enterprises. School principals were warned that they should not be involved in this process.

It should be recalled that according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from 15 August 2018, the Uztextileprom Association forms a list of manufacturers of school uniforms in the segment of regions.

The Council of Ministers of Karakalpakstan, khokimyats of the regions and the city of Tashkent, in cooperation with Uztextileprom Association, should organize sales points for school uniform manufacturers in the center of each district (city) and publish the addresses of the points in the media.

School principals were instructed to carry out explanatory work on the benefits of school uniforms among parents during parental meetings and to take measures to prevent the directors of educational institutions or class teachers from participating in the process of selling school uniforms.

Also, the meeting participants discussed the work carried out in the field of crime prevention among students of general education schools in 2018, and relevant instructions were given to eliminate the existing shortcomings.
