Signing ceremony held on two grant-aid projects between Uzbek-Korean governments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 April 2009, a signing ceremony of two Arrangements on Korea’s grant-aid projects between Uzbekistan and Korean governments was held at the Cabinet of Ministers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The arrangements were signed by His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Aripov, Deputy Prime Minister of Information and Communication, and His Excellency Mr. Kyun Jae-Min, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As a part of Korea’s bilateral development cooperation plan on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) field in Uzbekistan, Korean government has been working on two grant-aid projects with Uzbekistan government from 2008 and the projects are scheduled to be completed this year.

Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the implementing agency of Korea’s grant-aid, has been preparing two projects - a project for the creation of a complex electronic library system for scientific and technical literature, and a project for the informatization of the central state archives - to assist establishing ICT infrastructure in Uzbekistan. The budget of each project from Korean government alone amounts to US$2 million and US$3 million respectively.

By successfully accomplishing those projects, both parties expect to strengthen the existing scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries through the efficient and systematic implementation of the technical cooperative projects.
