Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report on activities and future tasks of BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Jizzakh region.
This factory was launched on June 27 of the current year and became the first producer of BYD passenger cars outside of China.
Today, BYD is a global leader in the production and sales of vehicles powered by new energy sources such as electric and hybrid vehicles. The company boasts one of the best technological bases and quality control systems.
The decision for such a major manufacturer to enter the Uzbek market is driven by the favorable investment climate and policies of the country, as well as the availability of highly qualified engineers in the automotive industry, a developed production base, and raw material resources.
The Chairman of the Board of Uzavtosanoat presented a report on the initial results of the investment project and plans for its expansion.
An analysis was conducted on Uzbek enterprises producing plastic parts, glass, bumpers, and other components to ensure compliance with BYD quality standards within the framework of establishing a full production cycle.
Agreements with Chinese partners for automobile production in various segments have been concluded to meet the population's demand for passenger vehicles and expand the range. Initial samples have been sent for testing in laboratories to verify compliance with modern standards.
The implementation of modern technologies and standards in manufacturing, trade, service, and warranty maintenance is also becoming relevant to prevent the production of low-quality goods and ensure high levels of vehicle service.
Cooperation with BYD also includes training and skills enhancement for local personnel. Plans include the establishment of an engineering training center in collaboration with the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute and the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
During discussions at the joint venture, BYD Uzbekistan Factory, measures were discussed to increase production volumes and accelerate the localization process.
The President set specific tasks to accelerate production, develop a strategy for further cooperation, achieve an annual production volume of 500,000 units, and enter export markets.
