Shakhimardan to Become a Modern Tourist Cluster with Chinese Investment

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Shakhimardan is set to become one of the key tourism hubs in the Ferghana region, following a meeting between regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov and a delegation led by Liang Liangkui, General Director of Chinese company Daqin Cableway.

During the talks, the two sides discussed concrete steps for implementing a joint tourism project in the scenic village of Shakhimardan, known for its high natural and recreational potential. A previous video conference had outlined initial concepts and proposals — the project has now moved into the practical planning stage.

Governor Bozorov emphasized Shakhimardan’s uniqueness and its status as one of the most promising destinations for eco- and active tourism. He noted the urgent need for modern infrastructure, including construction of cable cars, extreme attractions, rope parks, suspension bridges, and high-end hotels and restaurants. The governor also raised the idea of developing a full-scale ski resort to ensure year-round tourist activity, including during the winter season.

Both parties exchanged ideas on enhancing the project, expanding the list of services, and ensuring a comfortable experience for visitors. Special attention was paid to ecological sustainability and safety, as well as creating conditions to attract foreign tourists.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on a concrete action plan to launch the project. Both sides confirmed their readiness for close cooperation and expressed confidence that this ambitious initiative would give new momentum to the development of tourism in the Ferghana region and enhance the region’s investment appeal.
