Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 January 2025, the meeting of the Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held, chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbaeva.

During the meeting, a decision was made to hold the third plenary session of the Senate on 23 January 2025, in the format of a video conference.

Several important bills are planned to be discussed at the plenary session, including those related to "Investments and Investment Activity," "Food Security," as well as laws aimed at improving microfinance activities and strengthening the system of deposit protection in banks. Projects related to combating economic crimes, as well as amendments to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On State Duties," will also be reviewed.

The agenda will include issues related to the development of performing arts, improving the system of crime prevention among minors, and strengthening guarantees for the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms. Special attention will be given to regulating the alcohol and tobacco markets.

Additionally, senators will consider bills related to environmental expertise, environmental impact assessments, and amendments to the Labor Code. Among the issues to be discussed are the establishment of the honorary title "Honored Environmentalist of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and matters related to citizen registration at their place of residence.

The plenary session will also review bills regarding the ratification of the Treaty with Tajikistan on allied relations and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Senate Council resolutions are also expected to be approved.
