New edition of Tax Code was developed in line with order of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov on 7 January 2005.

Tax Code comprises of two parts, 23 sections, 60 chapters and 392 articles. The code regulates general issues on tax administration. New Tax Code simplifies tax system through unification of tax calculation and payment, etc.

The members of the Senate approved the code. The senators also passed the law on changes and amendments to legislation in line with the adoption of Tax Code.
The Law and Tax Code will come into force on 1 January 2008.
