Senate of Oliy Majlis approves the law “On weapons”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Senate of Oliy Majlis approved the Law “On weapons” on 21 June 2019.

The document was developed in order to regulate the circulation of weapons in the lawful possession and use of state bodies, legal entities and individuals.

The law establishes the basic principles of arms trafficking - legality, the priority of protecting and preserving the life and health of citizens, their rights and freedoms, the good faith in fulfilling international obligations, publicity and availability of information.

The law provides a classification of types of weapons: "civil", "service", "combat". At the same time, civilian weapons are divided into hunting, sporting and self-defense weapons. Service weapons include weapons intended for use by employees of legal entities when performing tasks to protect the life and health of citizens, property, nature protection, valuable goods, dangerous goods, special correspondence, as well as officials in order to ensure personal safety. A combat weapon is a weapon intended for conducting combat operations and performing official tasks, which has been adopted by the Ministry of Defense, Interior, State Security Service and other structures.

Also, the Law defines a list of entities entitled to purchase weapons and military supplies to it, including special bodies and military formations, legal entities with special service tasks engaged in the production and sale of weapons, conducting activities in the field of hunting and shooting sports, as well as legal entities and individuals engaged in collecting or exhibiting weapons, citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreign citizens, stateless persons. Senators approved the law.
