Senate hosts meeting with Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ahead of the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva, met with Mohammad Reza Majidi, Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
The meeting focused on the prospects for enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan’s parliament and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, as well as strengthening collaboration in the fields of environmental protection, sustainable development, and international policy.
Particular attention was given to key areas of future cooperation, including environmental safety, the adoption of green technologies, poverty reduction, water supply improvement, and environmental protection.
Mohammad Reza Majidi praised Uzbekistan’s progress in implementing political and economic reforms under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, especially in light of the recent constitutional changes and the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Development Strategy.
The parties also discussed expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation among Assembly member states and the development of “ziyorat” tourism. In this context, both sides expressed readiness to deepen collaboration in tourism, including experience exchange and strengthening intercultural ties.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue active engagement within existing initiatives and to pursue new joint projects.
