Senate hears a report of the State Committee for Tourism on the progress of reforms in the tourism sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23-24 August, the twenty-first plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was held.

On the agenda, along with other issues, the report of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the development of tourism on the implementation of reforms in the tourism sector was heard. The main results in the field of tourism were presented by the acting. Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism A. Akkulov.

As noted, over the past period, the regulatory framework of the tourism sector has been further developed. In particular, the main regulatory document was adopted - the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Tourism”. In total, 12 regulatory acts were developed and adopted. Particular attention was paid to the development of tourism infrastructure, promoting the country’s tourism potential and strengthening staff potential. For some indicators there is a high growth. For example, in the 7 months of this year, 295 new tourism organizations were created, which is 2 times more than in the same period last year (when 147 were created). Also, if in 2018 106 family guest houses were created, in the 7 months of this year 526 new guest houses were created (a 5-fold increase).

At the same time, the recently adopted Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for the further development of the tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan” defined the main directions of development and created the conditions for solving problems in such important areas and areas as the transport system, support for entrepreneurs, infrastructure development, strengthening staff potential.

First Deputy Minister of Transport I. Makhkamov and Minister of Culture B. Saifullaev also spoke on this issue on the agenda. They informed the senators about the progress of reforms in the field of transport and culture aimed at developing the tourism potential of the country.

In addition, the Chairman of the Senate Committee Oliy Majlis A. Kurmanov acted as a co-rapporteur with a report on issues of international relations, foreign economic relations, foreign investment and tourism. He also urged senators to approve the report of the State Committee for Tourism Development.

During the speeches, senators asked questions, and also put forward a number of proposals for the further development of the tourism sector. In particular, the first deputy chairman of the Senate, Oliy Majlis S. Safoyev, proposed to organize and develop ethno museums in the future. It was decided to introduce the voiced proposals in the final decision of the Senate Oliy Majlis. Following the meeting, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the report of the State Committee for Tourism on the implementation of reforms in the tourism sector.
