The law is directed at replacing current law “On mandatory personal insurance of passengers of air, railway, internal river and automobile transports of general use.

The document is aimed guaranteeing compensation of damages, caused to life, health and property of passengers at transportation by all transport means in Uzbekistan via mandatory insurance of the civil liabilities of the transporter.

The law determines liabilities of transport, insurance company, passenger and beneficiary. The law envisages creation of insurance pool, which will carry out mandatory insurance of civil liabilities of transporters. The insurance companies will form insurance reserves to guarantee payouts.

Adoption of the law will help to strengthen protection of passengers, create new jobs, develop infrastructure of insurance market and transport, as well as improve offered services, Senators said.
