Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the fifty-sixth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law "On amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was discussed and approved.

The Law is designed to align the existing legislation with the new version of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and includes a number of amendments aimed at implementing the principles established in the updated Constitution.

In particular, the law has brought 26 legislative acts, including 6 codes and 20 legal norms, into conformity with the provisions of Article 19 of the updated Constitution. This article establishes that all citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan have equal rights and freedoms and are equal before the law, regardless of their gender, race, nationality, language, religion, beliefs, social origin, or public status.

Additionally, the Law "On Mass Media" has been amended to confirm the freedom and independence of mass media and their activities in accordance with the law. This change is aimed at strengthening the legal foundations that ensure the free and independent functioning of the media in the country.

An important aspect of the new law also includes amendments to the Labor Code and the Law "On Civil Service." These changes are related to preventing discrimination, including the prohibition of refusing employment based on a relative’s criminal record.

Senators highlighted that this Law contributes to further strengthening the legal guarantees of citizens' rights protection, ensuring equal opportunities in exercising their rights, including employment, and enhancing the guarantees for the freedom of mass media activities.

The Law was approved by the senators, reflecting the state's commitment to the principles of equality, justice, and human rights protection.
