Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 November 2024, the second ministerial meeting of the Sustainable Transport Friends Group was held in Ashgabat as part of the International Conference and Exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development - 2024."
The event was attended by Mamanbiy Omarov, First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During the meeting, participants discussed the prospects for further development of the Sustainable Transport Friends Group, including the development of new approaches for the global sustainable development of transport systems.
Special attention was given to the need for UN coordination in preparation for the Decade of Sustainable Transport for the period 2026–2035.
Participants emphasized the importance of improving the group's work, joining efforts to address transport and logistics challenges, reducing regional and global barriers, and supporting initiatives by UN member states in the development of transport infrastructure.
