Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The elections held on Sunday for Uzbekistan’s Legislative Parliament were transparent and conducted in full compliance with national legislation, reported Nurlan Ermekbayev, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and head of the SCO observer mission, during a briefing.
Mission members visited 48 polling stations, where observers from political parties, foreign countries, international organizations, and media representatives were present.
The mission acknowledges that the elections in the Republic of Uzbekistan were open, free, and legitimate.
“We can conclude that the elections were conducted openly and transparently, fully aligned with Uzbekistan’s national electoral legislation,” stated Ermekbayev.
SCO observers noted the high level of election preparation in Uzbekistan and improvements in electoral legislation.
“I would like to thank Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission for the quality preparatory work conducted for these elections. I would also like to highlight the high level of preparation among commission members at all levels and their competence in handling the voting process,” he noted.
Ermekbayev further emphasized innovations, such as the electronic election information system. “All of this contributes to the advancement of the electoral process in line with international standards,” he added.
