The Sec Gen told about history of formation, structure and main directions of the Organization’s work. Mr. Nurgaliyev explained in details aims and tasks of the Council of States’ Heads, Council of Premiers, Foreign Ministers Council and the SCO National Coordinators Council, Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure with headquarter in Tashkent and special working groups on different directions of the SCO activity. He also told about ministries’ regular meetings and work of permanent reps of the SCO member states.

Speaking on the Organization’s role, the diplomat highlighted that the SCO serves as a platform for accommodation of views in order to make sis states’ voice weightier on the world arena. “The SCO should work on rapprochement of nations”, the Sec Gen noted and expressed hope that in future Tajik students will contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation among the region’s peoples and countries.

Reps of Tajik youth expressed interest in work of the “Shanghai Six”: measures on development of youth movements on Central Asian space, admitting new member states, abolition of visa regime on the SCO space and possible traineeships in the Secretariat and other structures of the Organization.

Answering the questions, Bolat Nurgaliyev emphasized that SCO-NATO block confrontation is a speculation since the Organization’s force activity is directed on struggle against terrorism, extremism, separatism and drug traffic and is not connected with military aims.
