SCO RATS to hold its session in Tashkent next week
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Eighteenth session of the Council of the Regional Antiterrorism Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO RATS) will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 25 March 2011.

Representatives of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will participate at the session of the structure.

The session will consider a draft report of the SCO RATS Council to the heads of the SCO on the activity of the structure in 2010. The participants will consider the report of the SCO RATS Executive Director Jenisbek Jumanbekov on implementation of the programme on cooperation of the SCO members in fighting terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2010-2012, as well as decisions of the SCO RATS Council.

It is also planned to agree issues related to preparation to the events connected with the 10th anniversary of the SCO.

The participants will discuss draft agreements on cooperation between the SCO RATS and other international organization in order to strengthen cooperation with the international and regional organizations.

SCO has been founded in 2011 on initiative of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan. SCO observers are India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan.

The main tasks of the regional organization is to strengthen stability and security in the member states, fighting terrorism, separatism, extremism, illegal drug turnover, development of economic and energy partnership, scientific and cultural dialogue.
